Blazon

On a gold metal and epoxied shield shaped device 1-1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height, overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Vert, a chevron quarterly per chevron Argent and Gules, a base indented with nine points of the second, charged in chief by eight lozenges fesswise Argent (Silver Gray), four to dexter and four to sinister, surmounted at nombril point a fasces palewise Gris, overall a canton Sable charged by a sword and key saltirewise Or, point and bit to chief.  Attached below the shield a gold scroll inscribed "WITH VIGILANCE FOR JUSTICE" in black.


Symbolism

Green and yellow are the colors associated with the Military Police Corps. The chevron is a mark of service and it bears the national colors white and red, alluding to the prominent landscape feature of the northeast, Mount Washington.  The indented base further suggests New Hampshire’s Presidential Mountain Range, while the gray lozenge pays tribute to the Granite State.  The nine peaks and lozenges refer to the ninth state of the union ratifying the Constitution of the United States of America.  The fasces represents the authority and expertise to advise the New Hampshire National Guard Joint Staff on all law enforcement and detainee operations.  The canton bears a crossed sword and key, elements originally from the Military Police Corps Regimental coat of arms.  The sword represents the military and the key denotes security.  Overall, the shield refers to the unit being the highest Military Police echelon in the state of New Hampshire.

Crest.  From a wreath Or and Vert, two pine branches saltirewise Proper, crossed behind a bundle of five arrows palewise Argent, bound together by a ribbon Gules, the ends entwining the branches

Motto.  Overcome Evil with Good.

 


Symbolism

Shield.  Green and yellow are the colors associated with the Military Police Corps.  The chevron is a mark of service and it alludes to the New Hampshire mountain range.  The cross is a symbol of hope and protection, and refers to the unit motto “Overcome Evil with Good.”  The tri-parted ends of the cross is a heraldic reference to the fir or pine tree.  The crossed sword and key are elements originally from the Military Police Corps Regimental coat of arms.  The sword represents the military and the key denotes security.  Together, they further symbolize the power of detention and freedom held by Military Police units.  The pair of scales is symbolic of equal justice under the law.  Overall, the shield refers to the unit being the highest Military Police echelon in the state, advising the New Hampshire National Guard Joint Staff on all law enforcement and detainee operations. 

Crest. The bundle of five arrows and the pine are from the seal adopted by the Colony of New Hampshire in 1776.
